ABOUT US

The Social Servant, formerly Veterans Village of Baton Rouge, was founded on a commitment to service, compassion, and community empowerment.

Our founder brings 19 years of experience as a practical nurse, with much of her career dedicated to caring for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Her passion for service is deeply rooted in her professional experience, years of community involvement, and a genuine commitment to preserving dignity, promoting independence, and improving the quality of life for others.

Throughout her career, she has witnessed the importance of compassionate care, effective communication, and dependable support. Her dedication extends beyond healthcare, including two years of volunteer service at the Dr. Leo S. Butler Community Center, where she continued her commitment to serving others.

These experiences helped shape the vision for The Social Servant: an organization dedicated to addressing everyday challenges, connecting individuals with valuable resources, and creating meaningful opportunities for community support.

Our mission is to identify practical needs in Baton Rouge communities and respond through programs that educate, empower, connect, and support individuals and families. Our work is designed to reduce barriers, strengthen individual and family capacity, promote inclusion, and ensure that people have access to information, resources, and opportunities that help them thrive.
